  What Are Things Jehovah's Witnesses Peculiarly Do?

  jws seem to be preoccupied with "the world".

  if a witness does anything out of line----they are considered "worldly".

  Not that I am endorsing the practise , but watching soap operas is construed as being a wordly thing to do. Also being too interested in sports and the following of.

  Usually brothers who focus upon these things to closely within others lives tend to display a lack of love and like to wear a slight sneer. A case of not seeing the rafter?

  I don't believe for a moment that you have those items. Faker! Far too cliched a list. Or are you known as brother-cliche at the hall? You know, the one that other brothers and sisters with half a brain see through and consider to be less than spiritual?

  belief in angels & demons, the same as extraterrestrials?

  are angels/demons/god in fact aliens?

  i know that word 'alienz' will put a lot of people off, but really, are extraterrestrials the same thing as the beings in the bible, and is it just a choice in terminology of which words we are more comfortable with using, if you think they are not the same thing, why do you think this?.

  It explores this area very well indeed. I had to pay well over the odds for my own copy and it was worth every penny. Very enjoyable.

  since jesus spoke about the "doing of good" towards (our) fellow man, it seems only reasnable that these humane good works would be pleasing as what might be termed as "christian-related" actions.

  they would most certainly "build up" one another and promote the faith of christianity.

  So true - good quote - the negative aspect reminds me of myself on occasion (sadly) and also two people I know who are connected with ' da troof ' really bang on about God and seem to revel in the misery seen on the news ...

  OK this not sleeping thing has got to stop

  well it's not that i'm not sleeping - i am - just only 2-3 hours at a time.. when i try to stay awake i start feeling nauseous from the lack of sllep and have to go lie down.

  then sleep for a couple of hours then the pain in my feet starts up and i am awake.. i just spent the second whole night this week wide awake.

  then during the day i am falling asleep for two hours then awake for an hour and back to sleep.

  Really sorry to hear that you have that problem - I too can raise my hand to having had sleep issues for many years. Really depressing at times and deeply frustrating.

  I try to just give into it now and try and beat the blues it brings.

  I have a handful of sleeping tablets but rarely use them, as they make me feel like pooh for hours after waking.

  I also have a cupboard full of herbs that help from time to time - Passion Flower / Hops / Valerian / Limeflower.

  I tell you one thing that did knock me out consistently and that was Cannabis, but I do not use that anymore due to my addiction with it. I got hooked on it and would bomb myself into oblivion each night, which represented a problem within itself. Evenutally I became accustomed to only getting a good nights sleep when zapped on weed.

  The psychology is the issue for me. I just get into a phase of mind where I think I will not sleep and then I don't.

  It is good to know that many of us suffer with this in a way, as it helps to know that many are muddled and fuzzy through the day.

  In my own case I am waiting for a miracle to lift this curse !!

  It is natural to seperate a disfunctional element from a group who is proving destructive to the majority. So in some instances it may be necessary to make it known that a certain individual or individuals are conducting themselves in a contrary manner.

  BUT - it is then down to an individuals discretion as to how one deals with those publically marked ones, without comeback.

  That is where I believe the ruling has failed.

  read something today, that i thought was very interesting.

  it screams in the face of thousands of years of christian belief.

  it expresses the authors belief that jesus's sacrifice was in vain.. "if i owe a person money, and cannot pay him, and he threatens to put me in prison, another person can take the debt upon himself, and pay it for me.

  We would have to examine the nature of Yahweh again (the defined expression of God towards physical creation) to answer that particular question as to why almighty God would require a blood sacrifice to appease his all-consuming desire for justice.

  It is a question that I have raised before with a friend who studies the Kabbalah.

  He described the presence of Yahweh as being an all consuming fire that no man can stand before and Christ as a possible 'bucket of water' (which made me smile) to quench that fire. Christ would have to stand before Yahweh to consume the fire of divine justice?

  Where the blood-letting comes in to play is hard to say from my own point of view, but within occult ritual blood plays an important role. The nature of blood is fascinating and obviously intrinsic to our physical existence.

  Maybe it is perfect higher laws that need to be satisfied that we really have no absolute understanding of and never will?

  I really, really don't have an answer.

  I have been told on good authority that if you delve into the occult world many aspects of the Bible become clearer, so try looking there maybe. The Kabbalah is an interesting area of research, although I personally have only scratched the surface.

  Salvation by works is why JW's are under the modern day Mosaic Law

  because the society does not teach a basic christian doctrine, salavtion by grace, but rather teaches that salavtion only comes through them by works, this in itself creates a dilemma.

  if salvation is by works only, then you need a system that puts you under an obligation to perform these works.

  what are these works?

  I suppose works are important in a way, but it is for each one to choose what he or she is capable of and accept as part of their expression of faith.

  Within itself, going from door to door is not an act of the upmost evil, but the act of enforcing that discipline upon every Christian could be construed as being oppressive and certainly begins to negate individual freewill by making the act compulsory.

  Having to attend all meetings and study for every meeting is a bind and can undermine a persons confidence in their own spiritual standing before Christ & God, by implying that one is spiritually weak if one is not able to (or not willing to even).

  So, I have to agree. Too many rules and regulations that define a materialistic spirituality.
